5 Best Restaurants in Raleigh, NC

Brewery Bhavana

Brewery Bhavana was listed as one of the top 10 coolest restaurants in the world by Forbes, and it’s easy to see why. Not only does it serve some of the most delicious Asian fusion food in Raleigh, but it’s also a brewery, florist, and library – all under one roof! If you’re wanting to eat here, be sure to make a reservation on OpenTable months in advance. But if you can’t get one, or you just waited until the last second, try going for an early dinner; you might get lucky. Try the General Tso’s chicken or the Chicken Curry Boas. Both are very, very likely to have you coming back for more.

Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar

If you’re in the mood for sushi and burgers, Cowfish is the place for you; they’ve got some of the best in Raleigh. Be prepared to wait, though, because they don’t take reservations, and they’re usually very busy. Kids will love the giant fish tank at the center of the restaurant, as well as the creative décor all around. If you’re looking to combine the best of both worlds – burgers and sushi – order the bento box. With it, you’ll get a small-sized burger, plus a sushi roll of your preference and three sides. The atmosphere of Cowfish is fun and inviting, with some visitors choosing to wear nice suits and others dressed more casually in shorts. It’s a great spot for dates, families, and celebrations.

Angus Barn

Angus Barn is a popular steakhouse located off of Glenwood Ave, near the highway in Northwest Raleigh. In it, you’ll find an opulent wine cellar, cigar bar, and multiple different rooms for dining. It’s especially memorable to go here during the holidays – and we recommend making reservations very far in advance because it’s a very crowded time. During the holidays, Angus Barn lights up their interior like Disney World – Christmas decorations and lights strewn from everywhere, a giant Christmas tree, and many other festivities. It’s honestly worth going, just for the experience. As far as food, Angus Barn has some of the most delicious steaks, ribs, and seafood you’ll find. Not to mention, their mouth-watering desserts. Definitely worth a trip if you’re in the area.

The Pit

The Pit is a great place to go if you’re craving authentic North Carolina barbeque. And not just one type of barbeque; they have multiple different options from which to choose, including the North Carolina sauce, which features a vinegar base. When you eat at the Pit, you’ll get the barbeque experience that many people visit North Carolina for. And the Pit takes it very seriously – they start smoking their pigs early in the day. Once you’re inside, you’ll be surrounded by an elegant setting with soft lighting. Make sure you book a reservation in advance because the Pit gets very busy, especially on the weekends. And, since its located in Downtown Raleigh, you’ll have plenty of things to do once you finish your meal, including playing classic video games at Boxcar Arcade, just around the corner.

Poole’s

Poole’s is Ashley Christensen’s first restaurant in the Raleigh area. And for those who don’t know, she’s a James Beard award-winning chef. Having opened in 2007, Poole’s is a delectable Italian restaurant situated right in Downtown Raleigh. If you’re a fan on Mac and Cheese, Poole’s features a Macaroni Au Gratin, which will have your eyes budging out of your head and your friends wanting to steal your meal. The thing with Poole’s is that the menu is always changing – it’s written on a chalkboard, actually. So you’ll be in for a surprise each time for visit. However, the Mac and Cheese is always there, so you’re free to use that as a default. Either way, you’ll find some of the best Italian and seafood in the Raleigh area.
